Pretreatment Engineering Platform (PEP)
Key personnel of K&B were engaged to manage this $32 million project for the Washington Group contracted through Bechtel National for the Department of Energy. A series of chemical processing skids were required by the DOE to validate portions of a waste treatment plant being built in Richland, WA. The skids were designed to use a mixture of chemicals that were not radioactive, but that would simulate the chemical properties of the waste that would be processed by the Department of Energy. The project was at the conceptual stage when K&B was engaged, and 14 months later, the system was designed, engineered, fabricated, tested and delivered. The final product had more than 20 ASME code-stamped pressure vessels and heat exchangers, several miles of small bore stainless steel piping, and over 1,500 instruments.

Pulse Jet Mixer Test Platform
Key personnel of K&B were engaged to assist with project management with this $6 million follow-on project to the PEP for the Tessenderlo Kerley Services, contracted through Energy Solutions and Bechtel National for the Department of Energy. A series of process skids were required to test the Pulse Jet Mixers being planned for use in a waste treatment plant being built in Richland, WA. As with the PEP, the project was at a conceptual stage when we were engaged, and about 7 months later the system was designed, engineered, fabricated, tested, and delivered.

DOT Planning.
Key personnel of K&B were engaged by Big Sky Specialized to develop shipping and tie-down planning for several SuperLoads being planned for shipment from various CONUS locations to the DOE facility in Richland, Washington. To date we have planned and completed shipments of a 100,000 pound Diesel Generator, and several oversize silos.
